Answer:by Konstance McCaffree: (10/03/2007) Since I am not a doctor and am not able to examine the area, I am not sure whether the perineum (the area between the anus and vagina) needs stitching back together or if there is something else that might be done to absorb the moisture.
In most women, that area is moist because it contains sweat glands and usually harbors more moisture from the underwear that a woman wears. Sometimes wearing cotton underwear allows it to ‘breathe’ better and does not trap the moisture in.
The best way to approach this issue is to make an appointment with a gynecologist and ask the question to him/her. It may be that the moisture and yeast infections are originating in the vagina, which they do in many women, and drain to the outside. There are topical medications to take that can decrease the itching and yeast. I urge you to find a doctor who will help you find ways that may make you more comfortable since I know this must be very irritating for you.
